Well I know this isn't very good for consumption and luckily being retired i don't use the car so much i.e regularly but I took the plunge and filled the tank last month and as the gauge goes to 3/4 full I refill.

This way financially I am not laying out too much to have a full tank.

For those of you who (like I used to do) have to use the car to get to work I really feel for you.

It makes you wonder with the rise in petrol food and utilities what things are going to be like in 10 years time!!

Apart from the tax bit, really annoying that overpaid currency and commodity speculators are forcing up prices of food and oil + forcing down value of holiday money (if we can afford holiday). Also annoying that retail sales announcements now exclude fuel sales - don't these idiots realise when we spend more on fuel that we spend less on other things.

They know exactly what they are doing in my view, Its called destroy humanity as we know it for greed and profit at the very top and as a result us at the bottom of the pecking order suffer massively.

It's interesting that the government (any of them) will always blame either the cost of crude oil or problems in the middle east as if we are all idiots. But the fact is that other countries have the same cost implicated issues because they buy their oil from the same sources but yet, their price at the pumps is significantly lower than ours. Our problem is that we are taxed twice; 60% fuel duty (or there abouts) and then 20% vat.

Only way the government will listen is if we all stop buying it for at least a week. But of course that won't happen. BUT if we all cut back on non essential journeys and buy less of the stuff, sales will fall thus leaving to a drop in income to the treasury. Someone there then might take their shoes and socks of and realise that if they were to reduce the fuel duty by about 15%, then sales will sore and revenue from that will compensate for the cut.

    Not rocket science is it.

  • We'll pay up and wonder just how long before it reaches £2, of which over half will be tax, that'll be the tax you already paid tax on before you took it home.

Then the rest of the country will vote the same bunch of crooks back in at the next election to fleece us all again.

    Rearrange the following...

Don't think you will find that is true. You can search for prices in other European countries and according to the AA we are only the 13th highest price for petrol:-

    Europe
The UK has the thirteenth highest petrol price in Europe and the fourth highest diesel price.

Will that be as opposed to the last bunch that put us in this position by going on an unaffordable spending spree and putting the country into debt up to our eyes?

Well that may be the case in Europe (which i never mentioned in my previous post), but what about countries like the USA? Currently it's about the equivalent of £2.80 per gallon which works out at about 62p per litre!
