    Was it recorded?

First 3 or 4 they paid out? How many times are you claiming?

Last time I had to claim from RM I sent a copy of the email from the customer saying they havn't received their item with the claim form.

I also inform the buyer I am doing this so they know I am notifying RM and making a claim.

    Worked for me.

If something is sent recorded though, is there really much need to contact the non-recipient? They can tell from their system that they've lost it. Tracking still doesn't say 'delivered'.

Also, I have another 2 claims to make, but I don't want to send them off until I get my compensation for this item. I'm worried I'll confuse them, or look like i'm upto something, but at the end of the day, I send all my stuff recorded, and I can't help it if they keep losing things.

I'm gonna call them again on Monday If I don't receive my cheque today

You must be sending an awful lot of items to have so many lost in the system.
No doubt they are running statistics on claim rates and seeing yours as above average?

They will ban you from claiming eventually.

    I wouldn't say so, really.
I've sent around 250 items in the last 8 months or so?
They've lost 4 items so far.
One, I got my compensation money back really quickly and easily (item only worth £8 and just sent in a standard envelope!)

Current item pending is worth around £50.

Yet to claim for the most recent 2 items (also both sent recorded delivery) until this one gets sorted out.

And If my claim rate stats are high, what am I supposed to do about it? They can see on their own system that the item was never signed for. It's all down to them. They simply keep losing things, and so I keep claiming.

    I think you're probably right.
I wonder how businesses who send a high volume of expensive things using royal mail cope with lost items?
Do they just not bother to ever claim and lose out on lots of money?

And what if I always used tracked in the future?
Does that make claims easier? Would they still ban me from claiming them items too?
Surely there's some way of securing protection?

    really?! How is that fair??
How can they not take responsibilty when even according to their system, an item is still somewhere in the delivery network and has not been delivered or signed for? Do they exoect people just to keep taking their incompetence 'on the chin'?
  • And how would the buyer saying they haven't received anything be any different from the emails sent to the RM along with the proof of refund? Or for that matter, that the buyer isn't in on this scam

Because when the buyer fills in the RM form they are required to sign a statement to say that they have not received the item in question.
An e-mail does not have a signature and it could have been written by anyone and it's extremely easy to falsify e-mails.
Either the RM should claim I'm a scammer and report me to the police, or they pay compensation. I'm not a scammer, I have all the proof I need should I ever be accused of it.

But what proof is there that your buyer isn't a scammer who does this on a regular basis?
This is why they want your customer to sign a non-delivery statement.
  • Hang on a minute what are these stats people think they know? I'm not a scammer and since i started my business up what 3yrs ago and sell my personal stuff on ebay too i've had to file roughly 8-10 claims in that time. 2 just last week and both have been paid out today.
If they want to ban people from claiming i'll just post with a courier.

To be honest op I don't think rm know what they're doing half the time. I'd just put the claim in again in a couple of weeks time more than likely someone else will deal with it and they'll just pay out.

I've only ever had one item not paid out-that was down to them not ever even getting back to me.

Also i imagine it depends on the value, most of my claims have been for under £15 so i imagine they aren't as hot on low value claims as the high value ones.
