Theory - Does he need to?

OH has full bike licence and wants to take car test, does he need to take theory tests.
Tried to find out from so many people, even driving instructor doesn't know!

From the DSA website :-

UK licence holders

You will need to take a theory test if you want a licence for a new category of vehicle, for example, if you have a car licence and you want a motorcycle licence you will need to take a theory test.

Looks like he will have to take a new theory test, as he is changing category.

Yeah! does say a lot about him, OK you can't know everything, but as a driving instructor the DSA website would be the first place he should have looked, took me six minutes to find the answer.:sad:
