A car went into the back of me in queuing traffic. Got out to exchange details, but he started swearing at me and would not give any details. I got a photo of his car reg and he took a pic of mine, but he did not give me any details.
I have reported this to the police and they have said he will be done for 'failure to furnish'..
He was saying things like 'there is no effing damage' (stronger words were used by him) asked him for details repeatedly and he did not give any just abuse..
My question is, there is no real damage to my car, the bumper seems a bit loose, but it is an old car, (X reg) so it may have already been like that, should I contact my insurance as I only have his reg no and nothing else and the police are looking to prosecute him.
I want to get rid of my car soon, and I understand that even though it is a 'non fault' as he went into the back of me, my insurance would still go up - I have 7 years no claims and it is not protected. My excess is £350 - more than the cars worth!!!

You can get his Insurance details for a small cost from this website

Cars are designed to transfer the impact to the structure of the car, if you lift the boot carpet up you may find there are ripples there.
Take the car to a local accident repair company and ask them to check for damage.0 -
It's annoying I know, but financially your better off not chasing it..... If it was me however, i'd go after the £$%^&* and not give a damn about the cost “I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I know, I may wait to see what the police have to say as he has 14 days to say who was driving. The only witnesses in the car were my daughter, my partner and my Mum!! My daughter wants to 'punch his lights out' and she is only 8!!!
A friend just told me to put a whiplash claim in, but no injuries and I do not want to 'screw the system' for money that is not deserved..
The accident happened at less that 5 miles an hour, but it was enough to stall my engine..If the world is a stage... I want better lighting!0 -

He actually has 28 days to respond to their 172 request.
You need to decide whether there is actually damage or not. If there is no damage then there's no reportable collision.0
