Beware Aerial Con!!!!!!

When my Freeview Box was not working properly, I asked a reputable local aerial company to check my aerial.
When he arrived, he looked at my freeview picture and said I needed a new aerial as the aerial in my loft was not capable of receiving a good signal. He also pointed to the trees in close proximity to my home. I asked him if he would check the aerial in the loft but he said as it was 20 years old it was not adequate.
He quoted me £150 and stated it was the aerial i needed.
He installed the aerial and I gave him a cheque.
As he drove off, the freeview picture went off. I rang the office and he came back but could not resolve the problem.
I rang the office and the lady who answered was hostile and said they could do more. I told her I would cancel the check, which I did and she said they would take me to court.
I bought a new freeview box for £25 and this worked well on both the old and the new aerial.
I received papers from the Court and was asked to reply.
I contacted CAI which is the Aerial Installer Regulators as they were a member.
They were totally on my side and the old aerial should have been checked.
I sent a copy of their EMail with my explanation and the case was thrown out of court.

This Aerial Company had a huge advert in Yellow Pages and had been established for 20 years at just the time when my original aerial came into the world.
I have later found out that my neighbour has had the same aerial fitted(his was damaged) by another Company for £70 but in the end mine was free.
When I made the original call I only asked them to see if my aerial needed adjusting!!!0
