No claims bonus and different car

Hi
My Partner and myself as his named driver have a 2 car policy with Admiral which is up for renewal at end of may, The problem is We have just purchased another car as one of the ones on the policy was getting on in age, and had a few problems. Anyway my question is I have just covered it under swift.com as the quote was very good, but that was under the fact of my husband no claims bonus of 10yrs with the other 2 cars, does he as a person hold the no claims bonus or is it the cars, which means you would start from o again when you get a new car. I dont really understand and am worried now that I made a mistake.

Thanks for any info

It goes with the policy, so will probably have to start at 0 on the second policy.

No claims discounts relate to a person not having made a claim. So you could change your car every month and as long as you didn't make a claim, the discount would continue.

However, usually it is the person who has been named as the policy holder who has the discount. With most insurance companies, any other named driver does not build up their own no claims discount. I don't know Admiral's policy on this. I believe swift.com would expect you to provide documentary evidence of the discount.

Further to this, any company that you have insurance with will look for proof of the NCD... and until you submit that proof, the premium would be without NCD until documentation from the previous insurance company is received....

in effect NCD is applicable to the policyholder, however, if a policyholder has another seperate car insurance with another company, to have the policy quoted by swift with the 10 yr NCD you would have to remove the 10 yr NCD from the cuurent policy... so the original car insurnace premium would increase.
