Life Insurance - In Trust

I have just taken out level term life insurance of 150k.
Am I right in thinking if this is put 'in trust' then it won't be added to my assets ie house, after I die?
I have 2 children aged 13 & 11, and would need my elder daughter aged 28 to look after them should anything untoward happen to me.
I put on the Insurance questionaire that I wanted it in trust, but they haven't sent me any extra paperwork.
How do I go about making it easier for my next of kin?
Many thanks in anticipation.

yes, if the policy is written in trust it will not form part of your estate and will be paid directly to the beneficiaries. contact the company and ask them to send you the correct form."The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

I am so pleased that someone asked this question as this is what I needed to know. Also I am about to take this insurance out and need to know how much cover to take. My property is worth £650k and I have assets of about £30k. How much cover will I need to take out to cover IHT. Thanks in anticipation.0
