It's been a long time since I have been on this thread, but hope all that everyone is well. I must admit to being a little concerned about the wine shortage, but hope I can stock up on enough of it just in case;)If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

Made our Christmas cake today, let's hope I don't get a repeat of last year. After making the cake and soaking it in booze, the carbon monoxide alarm started going off - couldn't fathom out why, never happened before. We moved the alarm to the boiler cupboard and got near enough zero readings. Then we realised the cake was sitting on the dining room dresser just underneath the alarm - coincidence or what? There certainly was a fair amount of liquor in it, the fruit had been soaked in brandy and Amaretto for 24 hours then once the cake was cooked and cooled it had a mini-bath of more brandy.
Blooming gorgeous it was, even if it was alcotoxic! Hope this year's cake is just as nice - but we're keeping it away from the alarm, just in case. One life - your life - live it!0 -

Ooh Nargle I hope you are going to share your boozy cake with us all. We might need it with the wine shortage:rotfl:
After all the wind yesterday I went out today to survey the fallen fruit. Amazingly there is still some fruit on the trees but lots on the ground too. For the first time this year the quince tree has produced fruit so I am looking at recipes to see what I can do with them all:pDMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421
