I need to send a package to my girlfriend who's travelling in Australia at the moment so shopping around for packages. Its quite a big box - i've put it on the scales and it weights about 7kilos.
All the names I've heard of like parcel force and city link are either mega expensive or don't have prices on their sites. According to moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/cheap-parcel-delivery I'm better of going with a middleman. Have checked out the 3 below;
Myparceldelivery.com is giving me the cheapest quote £65 (+ VAT)
Parcel2go is £68 (don't know if that includes VAT, don't think so)
rapidparcel is £52 but only for business addressses. With DHL they're showing £129
A lot of feedback on the forum seems to be pretty negative using these kind of companies. Does anyone have any recent experience with any of these or other ideas of how I can get the box there as cheap as possible?! Should I go with Myparceldelivery?
PS the package isn't particularly valuable (clothes etc) so I'm not too worried about extra insurance. Realistically it wouldn't be the end of the world if it went missing. For me at least ;-)

Lol, yes, you clearly don't know my girlfriend and clothes!
Actually it looks like I can't use a tape measure and this thing is going to end up costing more than I thought. It's about 50x40x35centimeters and weights 6 and 1/2 kg. Myparceldelivery now showing me £119.10.
Myparceldelivery says the delivery will be made by TNT economy express. Checked on the TNT website and the delivery would cost me £300+ if I order with them direct! Apart from the potential risks mentioned in martins article is there any disadvantages to using a middleman like myparceldelivery etc? Can't see how TNT wouldn't prefer you to order with them directly, but their pricing seems ridiculous0 -
Just to update this, ended up going with myparceldelivery TNT economy express for £144 with VAT.
Parcel due to be picked up by TNT tomorrow and delivered by the 18th.
Can't believe I just shelled out 150 quid to send a box of stuff that was probably worth about the same amount!! (Martin Lewis would be disgusted i'm sure!)0
