if you go on a month between getting the offer and cashing the cheque you probably won't go far wrong (maybe a little bit of an overestimate but it's probably best to just add a few days)
I would expect a week rather than a month.

Would not like to be insured with his employer
  • Hope your right rs65,

Its a right pain having to walk or get bus especially has eldest, aged 9 has hypermobility in all her joints. Used to be called double jointed for those wondering. Means yes she can walk, exercise etc but can take more out of her than someone with normal joints. She has been very good & has not complained even when we walked to our nearest town yesterday (2 miles away so 4 miles in total).

The soonest we can look & get another car the better! Are preparing for the worst though & luckily have friends that can/will help out when they can, even though they lead very busy lives
  • Have to say dacouch am preparing for it to be about a month but hoping will be shorter.

I hope so although me saying a month is cheque being sent to having the funds available. The company I work for is not a company where I trust the Claims departments however so maybe it's my poor experiences.
I work for a leading insurance company as an Insurance Advisor dealing with Commercial Insurance. Feel free to ask me any questions but please do not take what I say as correct advice at all times, as every insurance company works differently to others.

    Whose fault was the accident?

If their offer is acceptable then a cheque should be with you in a couple of days. Disputing the offer can delay things but remind them of the position with your daughter. Remind them as well that it has already been 20 days since the accident.
  • Hubby has been put at fault as he was turning right into road. He says other driver was also turning into road from other side but other driver says was just travelling along the road & unfortunately no witnesses
  • Just to let you all you lovely people who have helped out with advice, Insurers came back with a good offer today :-)

Hubby told them about daughter's hypermobility & that it had been 20 days since the accident. Customer Services rang back as they saw this as a complaint & apologised etc & said someone would ring by Wednesday with regard to settlement. Rang today & hubby has now been told will receive settlement in 5 days of £4335, £4585 minus the £250 excess so pleased with that :-)

Now to research family cars, good for camping/holidays & that do not cost a vast fortune for parts & servicing!
