Hello,
I'm really sorry if this is a silly question but this is the first time I've had to deal with this and I'm getting a bit confused to be honest.
Long story short - I crashed my car and it was declared a write off. I have received the pay out from the insurance company and they said they would notify the DVLA on my behalf.
I have now received a letter from the insurance company asking for my V5C certificate.
My question is - do I have to fill out section 9 of the V5C and send it to the DVLA or do I just return the whole V5C to my insurance company without filling it in at all?
I have car tax until the end of June which I want to get a refund for so my brother (who has worked in insurance) suggested I send section 9 of my V5C along with my tax disc to the DVLA in order to get the refund. But when I have looked at section 9 it looks like I have to get the insurance company to sign it too? As I said, I'm confused!!
Many thanks in advance
