Hi,
We decorated our lounge about 6 weeks ago (walls and gloss on doors/skirtings) but there is still a paint smell lingering around - I thought it would be long gone by now. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to get rid of the smell please?
TIA

Personally, I love the smell of paint - reminds me of Christmas. My parents would always paint at Christmas to " get the room nice". I don't know if I could stand it for as long as you have but it stll makes me nostalgic.
Sorry, I don't have any tips on how to get rid so a pretty pointless post as far as you're concerned.0 -
I made the mistake of buing gloss for my bedroom and did the door and skirting and it was not a "nice new paint" smell
I woke up in the night and couldnt breathe and my eyes were watering !
Anyway I cut an onion in half and put one inside room and one outside in hall. I also tried buckets of water and also lit scented candles. Sadly this just smelt like onion and vanillia and made me want to vomit.
In the end I just ventilated the room as much as possible and sprayed lots of febreese .....eventually the smell cleared but it did take weeks.0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

A product called Neutrodo1. Our painter and decorater introduced it to us and it works. You can get it in a silly little puffer thing that you depress and it squirts a bit into the air, but the really useful ones are ball shaped and just sit there with a blob of blue jelly like substance lurking in the bottom and it just eats nasty niffs. We keep one by the litter tray. Morribunds stock it, at about £4.00 but very occasionally you can get it from Pound1and at £1 a pop. Bargainacious.Better is good enough.0

Thank you for all your replies. Off to cut an onion up now and try that first. Will also keep a look out for the Neutrodo1 next time I'm in poundland.0

.so sorry SYA, but your post made me laugh
I've tried the onion & the rooms just smelt of onion - mind you, I quite like it.
I do not like the smell of Neutradol. To me that's worse than paint, it gets into the back of my throat & makes my eyes water.
I like boiling up some water with lemons & cinnamon - doesn't completely get rid of the smell but makes it a lot more pleasant.0 -
so sorry SYA, but your post made me laugh
:rotfl:glad to have given you a laugh
In future I will only buy low odour gloss or satinwood, but if I have problems again I will give your lemon and cinnamon a try0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗
