I'm thinking about exploiting my position and getting a job in a bank dealing with reclaiming bank charges

Board guides volunteer for the job. It means they can get away with things when you report them to the Abuse team for abusing their position

If it wasn't for this site I wouldn't have known how easy it was to claim back bank charges or save money on flights etc, never mind the hours of interesting banter and info I've gleaned.

"Would the guides offer their local bank or building society their time for free......and they don't mind if the establishment gains financially from their efforts"

My local bank has never done anything to help me save money so I wouldn't offer them my time for free. I would however quite happily act as a guide/mod/whatever on this board. I DON'T think the sun shines out of Martin's !!!! but do have some respect for the efforts he goes to to bloody the nose of some of the large corporations that have ripped us off for so long. This site has so many members now I reckon Martin could 'sell-out' and make a tidy profit.......

He hasn't so far and I hope he never does. As it stands this site is free to access and a godsend to many.

So if your bank did infact save you money would you be banging on their door saying you want help them out and you'll do it for free.

I have alot of respect for martin and the good work he has done on this site, but the bigger it gets the more money pours into that Martin Lewis Ltd pot and he's as i said a well off man.... but a lot of that money hes earned is due to the efficient running of this board which is due to those board guides - so effectively they are working for free, dealing with the trouble on these boards all for the sake of the increasing of profits of martin lewis while hes scoffing the profits.

This site is as much a business as any other business, except the method of gaining a profit is clever and as no-one believes they are paying no money but they are indirectly through affliate links.

But i have given up arguing this view as it seems its a minority view - now natwest recently saved me money by keeping my overdraft at 0% for another year, you'll see me down there working security

If it's anything like it is on another site I used to mod (until a few days ago) then the board guides do a really good job and should be recignised as such.

ok serious question, what does it matter to you what Martin earns from the site

if you dont like to think that he might be scoffing profits why are you even on his site

its not just board guides that help with the running of the board its the team at money saving towers and they do most of the work and they are paid, board guides volunteer and they do it knowing its not paid so whats the problem, and why is it grating on you when you arent even a board guide

This site can be accessed for free and used as a source of information to save money and make money. All that can be done without any profit going to Martin Lewis.
