£500 Voucher & Scrappage Scheme

I had a phone call from a window/door/conservatory company last week trying to sell me their products. Although there isn't anything we need to replace desperately, we do have a front door that could do with upgrading to keep more heat in. They said they have a £500 government grant plus a scrappage scheme worth £250, so with both it would cover the cost of the door. I am very wary that these companies are just trying to gain access to your home so that they can con you into buying from them.
Has anyone heard of this, as it seems to good to be true?

You can expect the quote for the door to be therefore £750 more expensive than it should be...in other words, the 'discount' is added to an already inflated price. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

There is no government grant and no scrappage scheme, it's all sales sloblocks!0

Don't ever even consider for one second something that you are cold called about.
Go and look for the proper price of a replacement door from a reputable tradesman, even look at the cost in the DIY places for the door and fixings itself. It'll have to be practically goldplated to warrant £750 - and I'll bet that doesn't include the hundreds of pounds they'll charge to fit it - or the hard sell once they get in the door and refuse to leave until you sign up for the whole house to be redone.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
