Mortgage Networks: If only .....

Could mortgage networks do more to help the mortgage adviser?
With the Financial Services Authority now regulating the mortgage industry, there has never been a greater need for help and guidance through the mortgage compliance maze. But compliance is not the only area of need for the individual who wants to become a successful mortgage adviser.
Could they do more?
Any views?

Can we stop these posts on here JoeK its a consumer site after all.
They seem to be getting more regular and whilst they may be serious topics for discussions, I don't think here is the best place.
Cherry will probably be a better medium for this kind of post.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Sorry Homer but I am a consumer just like any other.
You may ignore this thread if you wish.

you may be a consumer as I am too - when did this forum turn into a broker to broker discussion forum - its designed for consumers to ask questions about their mortgages and endowments and all things money saving - where does that fit in here?
A couple of posts Im sure people can live with but who really gives a u know what about what it takes to become a successful mortgage arranger here?
I find it very strange that you own a business that sells services to brokers or wannabe brokers and I don't think this is the right medium for your posts nor do I feel that your motives are for the benefit of the consumers of this site - even the ones that post in a capacity of a MA or IFA.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Thanks for you opinion.
In my opinion it is valuable and important for consumers to see and read about the mortgage advisers side of the fence, as often this is the only chance that they get.

Here's my thoughts on this
1. I agree with homer about the type of posts not being hugely relevant to the objective of the mortgages and endowment forum, and would like to add that some of us will not speak our true thoughts here anyway
BUT
2. I do like the discussions you are invoking JoeK and like to take part and give my opinion and I hope we can continue with them
BUT
3. I would not participate if these discussions were on cherry as I know full well that the "safe" mortgage broker discussion boards are NOT SAFE at all, they are viewed by non industry members, journalists, the FSA, lenders, and are generally used to feedback to large corporations what mortgage brokers "really think" - cherry is an info gathering medium for large organisations. By the way, I dont think anyone is ever anon on cherry either. As you can probably gather I dont use it anymore
I would really love to continue and partake in discussing and debating these interesting industry issues and I think there are two ways forward:-
1. create another forum which is truly safe and only for industry professionals and hope it takes off
2. Create discussion groups to bring together brokers regionally if this sort of thing does not already exist.
Me - I'm game for anything and I don't mind being the instigator of such things

Martin said that Broker threads were allowed but to keep the broker discussions out of the regular question threads.
I, for one, am glad of JoeK's expertise, knowledge and vast experience - which no-one else has here. He has been in the industry for too many years to mention and is, therefore, invaluable.0 -
lol - no-one else has his knowledge - how do you know that?
Were you one of the brokers that have used his training courses by any chance?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. They argue more on Cherry than they do here!
How long have you been in the industry Homer? You come across as being very anti the industry altogether, very pessimistic and not at all happy in your work.
Maybe you need to take a break?0 -

He has been in business a lot longer than you therefore he has more knowledge.
He has helped me out enormously and I appreciate his advice.
I did my courses with Money Marketing and would recommend them to anyone. However, I only "met" Joe here after taking the courses, not before. I knew nothing about Money Marketing Management until after the event. Joe didn't even come into the equation.
I speak as I find and having come from a professional background myself I appreciate a professional approach from others.
As I said, it is the year's of experience that count, nothing more. You are the one one who keeps saying that only years of experience turn anyone into an adviser - Joe has those "years of experience", so what have you got to complain about?0 -
Can we just get back to my very VALID and good suggestoins lol
C&Q you ave already created a mortgage brokers forum which has quite a few members when I last checked could that not be used?
JOEK - me you and homer are in te region and well all know plenty of other brokers. how about our own discussion meetings?I am a Mortgage Adviser
