I know I shouldn't expect a win when comping, but its been over two months and all I have won is a fridge magnet, I'm so happy for the people that somehow get 5 WEM's a month, but my last win was a WEM on the Hugo Boss advent back in mid December.
I think I'm gonna start trying to do the tweeting on last day of competition as I saw in a recent post that the competition holder only see's the 20 most recent tweet's.
In terms of other things that may prevent me from winning, on my new comp only facebook account my name is 'first name' Mse 'last name', would comp holders see this and possibly discount my entry as they would know I come from a comp forum, should I consider removing this from my FB name? If I do, would this then discount all my previous entries as my name is now different?
Also, I wonder about all these obviously meant for women comps, like gift vouchers for spending spree's on women's clothes. I enter these for my missus but I'm sure they would discount my entry for being male if they picked it out of a hat. Would it be better to put my girlfriends name on these comps but keep my email address and phone number?
Dunno what else to do, I spend about 90 mins comping every day (in December it was about 4 hours a day due to all them advents). I definitely won't stop and I know I shouldn't expect a win, but we all do this for one reason and it's so disheartening when I put all this time in for no result.

it is disheartening but look at it as its building up to a big one. Febuary has been very dry for me but i read some people dont win in many months so i consider myself fortunate to have won what i have so far.
I do the same for womens clothes voucher comps, hoping to suprise my partner. If they were only for women they would have to say so in the terms and conditions, i dont think they are allowed to discount you just for being male. for all they know you could be a cross dressing transvestite and it would be discrimination to discount you. (not saying you are BTW)
keep going bud and the good times will return. i find comp wins comes in two's or three's, a little like buses.0 -
Don't get disheartened, the first year I did comps I only won 2 dvd's and a book in 6 months. The following year I had lots more wins and last year I won over £100.00 worth of prizes. I am having a bit of a dry spell though at the moment but I only enter the ones I want or can give to my family and I look on it as a hobby rather than a chore.
I think that if you keep entering then the odds are you will have a win soon.
Keep doing them and have a break whenever you get fed up.;)0 -
I don't think your name has anything to do with you not winning.
I've seen people with 'mse' in their names win stuff on fb.
I also don't think it matters if you are a man entering a comp for womens clothes/accessories.
Each entry is given a number usually and then a random number selected as the winner....doesn't matter who you are or what your name is.
Are you entering many comps?
I do about 200 a day, I've been comping for 6 weeks and won 2 small things.
It just comes down to the luck of the draw though.
You've got a better chance of winning than people who haven't entered!0 -
I can get through the comps very quickly, at least the ones that require no effort, just enter details etc, I have autofill and it the site doesn't allow it im a fast typer, or cut/copy/paste. Don't know the exact number but I go through the entire list of new comps daily and enter all the ones that have a prize I want to win, so all technology prizes, holidays that are half/full board or all inclusive, gift vouchers, and other little things. all the ITV comps I have 4 phone numbers so on a 6 limit entry I enter 32 times. enter almost all the puzzle comps also.
would be good if you could run a program that counted the amount of 'ticked' posts you have over a day/month/year...0 -
Ive been on here about 5 years, enter a few a week and I havent won a sausage lolmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
There's essentially two options.
1) Carry on with a small chance of winning in every comp you enter.
2) Give up and have no chance of winning any comp you then don't enter.
If you do option 1 you'll be happy when you start getting your wins and I'd be pleased for you, I'm not the jealous type at all, more the 'shucks, one that got away' type
If you do option 2 you'll be thinking "what if it had been me had I entered" and I'd be pleased for you because anyone that doesn't enter increases everybody who has' chances, albeit by a very small percentage, including mine
So ultimately it's your choice, but either way I'd be happyGolly, I've got the newt pregnant...

LOL You would make a great politician! An answer for everything :T:rotfl: You are so witty!:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -
Hiioo,
Don't give up! I was like you when I first started last November aa I was inbetween jobs and had two months ish off work :O with all that spare time I entered so so many competions. Nearly 80%, and I won next to nothing and like you I was really dis-hearted my other half thought I was mad. Then I started my new job and I wasnt entering as many as full time shift work doesn't match well. But I carried on and started winning! My advice would be enter the smaller thing as everybody wants to win abd ipad, holiday etc. I also just started the dalies they seem quite useful as I won last week!! Try and see this as a hobby, don't expect prizes and you will soon get one. I wish you luck xxxpStarted 2011
