I shall always remember one night, maybe a year after I joined, when a user posted she was finally debt free. Her post was amazing, and such an inspiration to all those others who were struggling with debt. She was grateful for the help she received here, and exhorted everyone else never to lose heart but to carry on until they were debt free too.
I wish I could remember her name. She stopped posting after a while.
That was the first time I saw first hand how a faceless internet forum can be of real help to people who are at their wits' end. I never go to the debt boards as I'm in the lucky position of not needing them, but I'm sure many others have been helped by the increasing treasure trove of resources that MSE has become during these 10 years.Be careful who you open up to. Lets celebrate!
Although I joined in 2010 I was a lurker for a while before then. Since I was led to the site looking for money saving savvy (I can't remember the exact topic but I think I was looking for endowment advice at the time), MSE is always my first point of call for anything these days.
Thanks Martin for giving us the knowledge on how to beat the big companies at their own game while keeping cash in our pockets (or in Isa's/savings at the best rates)!Back on the trains again!0
