BT phoneline

Hiya all just been for a viewing on our first house we hope to complete on in the next week or so.

We went to do measurements and see if it had a bt phone line.

The phone socket was a white one but didnt have any bt stickers on it?
Also the owner had a new bt phone book just delivered?
Plus there was a talk talk letter for the owner.

What iam trying to get at is does all this random infomation indicate that there is an existing BT phone line for this address ie we wont have to pay for a new line?

your views plz  :j :D

most new properties have the lines pre fitted. The first customer to have the line connected pays the connection fee.

If the line has been connected in the past, no charge, if not there will be a charge.

    Plug a phone in.

If there's a dial tone, dial 17070 and make a note of what's said (the phone number).

Call BT and ask about reconnection (with that number).

If you have a letter for the previous tenant/owner, you know the name and address.

Have you tried 192.com and/or 118500.com to ascertain the number?

I don't get any, they would provide a book but it's for my area only and as I live on the most northern part of that area most of the numbers I want to look up are in the next area that is in sight of me.

So I told them not to send one unless its for the area I use, but they cant do that you have to purchace it, so now I pinch one from my dads place they always have loads laying around unused.

    Stupid BT.
