my folks had a lhasa, and it was the grouchiest meanest creature i've ever encountered. i grew up with a rotty and a dboerman aswell as labxretrievers, and it is the lhasa that i still have scars from.

I had a 10 year old lakeland terrier (I say 'had' because he left me no choice but to take him back to the rescue centre I adopted him from). He went the same way, grumpy, wouldn't move off furniture when told to do so, he wouldn't move out of a door way if he was stood in it etc. We checked him out at the vets and he had his various physical problems 'fixed' (to the tune of over £2k!!) but his bad behaviour continued. It unfortunately resulted in my father getting bitten (badly, he still has the scar) when he tried to shoo the stubborn little blighter out of a doorway.
For a long time I made excuses for his grumpiness and tried to help him with his problems but in the end it turned out that I was living with an aggressive and dangerous dog for longer than I should have. I knew he was bordering on dangerous to be honest but I tried to make excuses for him for so long because I was blinded with 'dog-love'. All I'm trying to say is try to view your dogs behaviour with open eyes (especially if you have children) and be very aware if they get beyond the 'grumpiness' stage to the down right aggressive.0
