Ikea Norden Dining Table -WARNING!!!!!!!!!

If you have visited Ikea you may have purchased this Norden Dining Table in
Birch.Size is 220/266/100.We visited the Croydon store back in February 2005
and bought this table. The batch number for ref is 16650 and most importantly
the date produced is shown as 0416.(16th week of 2004).We assembled this at home to find that the table had been cut incorrectly allowing a gap of 2mm
when you close both the leaves. There is also a extra third extender leaf that does line up when inserted.I returned it allback to Ikea for replacement. They brought out another table (same model same date produced.I opened it in front of them at customer services and showed them it had the same problemand that it had been cut incorrectly. They refunded my money and said someone would call when another batch were delivered with a different date produced on.I asked for compensation for the first visit and received £10.(They have a list for this so claim it).I received a call to say that more tables had arrived and was told they had different produced dates on.I visited and found that the palletted delivery which they forklifted down for me had the same produced date 0416.I opened two further tables and showed them the faults.I again received compensation for my fuel £20 this time. All efforts in trying to get my complaint to the store manager have yet to bear fruit as it would appear that customer services are a little slow in wanting to address the issues to him.As of today I await a response from Goran Nilsson. It would appear that they want the customer to return the item after they have been greatly inconvieienced.Of course some other Ikeas may have these codes on their shelves and maybe some of them are alright(I don't think so)Please check it out before you leave the store.(Takes a few seconds to see if the leaves of the table join up together.Remember Ikea has a duty of care to sell you an item that is fit for the purpose.(don't be put off if you bought it sometime ago)I await your experiences.
Update:I have received a call from a Customer services manager at Croydon who advises me that they have returned the 3 table I located with the gap
(WHICH SHOWS THE PINS)and a further pallet(unsure how many)have also been returned. He advises me that the 0416 on the side of the box is a manufacturer code not a date made code as I had previously been advised by customer services at Croydon. In any case check the table once you buy it and before you take it home.Like I said it only takes a few seconds to take out the two leaves and put them together on the shop floor. You do not have to assemble anything.I am happy to shop in Ikea however we have had a bad
experience and they have been a little slow to respond when challenged with
this issue.Always claim the fuel allowance if you have to return an item that is faulty.Oh and in a seperate incident we found another table to be damaged.
So Check it!!!!!!!!!

Really, well that is bad for the store if they had a dining table like that. I think that is big effect in the store if they don't get fix that kind of problem in their selling a dining table that has an defect.0
