I'd like opinions please, we'd like to get Sat Nav (after an interesting tou of Bradford yesterday!) and can't decide between the two in the subject.

I have to admit from reading a few reviews I'm leaning towards the Navman, but is the TomTom worth spending the extra £50?

Just out of interest would anyone be able to tell me how much it would cost (and how easy it is) to keep the maps up to date?

Thanks all for your help :-)

The Navman is the one I have and it's great. Watch out for the costs of extra though - the connectivity kit, map updates, speed camera updates etc all costs a fair bit extra.

The unit itself is very easy to use and the parking and petrol buttons are really useful.

I've had my F20 for a couple of weeks now, no real complaints with it. Type in the street or postcode, and it'll take you there! Also has speed camera warnings and POI's....will tell you where filling stations shops etc are, but not ALL of them are listed!

Ebuyer have just knocked another fiver off it, £110 now and get an extra tenner off if you pay by google.

Ok so you can get sat nav's with more features, but this has a decent size screen and takes me where I tell it.....what more do I need?

Please be aware that to use the Navman F20 with a computer you will need the utility kit(cable and software) which cost £15, you need this if you plan on updating the speed cameras or maps. The Tomtom one is on offer online for £140 but you can collect it instore from PCworld. So the price difference is only £25. When you factor in that Navman don't seem to produce cheap map updates, i think the tomtom is the better buy.

You can do so much more with the TomTom one, I have had both and am now selling the Navman. The Navman is ok, it gets you A to B but the TomTom can get you from A to B via c and you can change your route

£3 for an unofficial F20 data cable and no doubt if you know where to look you can get the map updates for nout.....;)

Not that they're really nescecary anyway, maps don't change that much. I've got a '97 road atlas (so mapping will be from 95/96) kicking around here somewhere and it'll still be 99.99% relevant.

I went for the navman as I don't need fancy features, and infact barely need a satnav! It's easy enough to drive to any town in Scotland with just a quick glance at an atlas beforehand to decide a route

Just wanted to leave an update, thanks all for your advice, I've taken the plunge and ordered.......

the tomtom one! Technically it's a birthday present from himself to me but I had to do all the work!

Very much looking forward to getting it and having a play, no more shall I get lost (hopefully!)
