Co op energy

Options
Joined ML energy switch club. Checked out best deal for me, went for co op energy. Just had email to say prices to new customers up by 9%, conveniently out of my cooling off period! ML site states will help you with cheaper energy prices, if i had not joined site & stayed with my current supplier EDF would have been cheaper! Not happy! Other users beware of ML site not all it pretends to be!

Same thing here. Signed up on advice from ML website and got just pass cooling off period and prices hiked. No mention what so ever from Co-op energy when I signed up that prices would be hiked. Infact the lady I spoke to told me how the other electric companies did not have to charge so much for thier energy and so CO-OP energy would always be cheaper and they were ripping us off in effect. Yeah well I know whos been ripped off.

Martin you should get your facts right mate. Really not happy right now.

Im interested in hearing you expand on this? what facts has martin got wrong? So the fact that he provides a comparison website means that it is his fault the an outside company raised its prices after YOU choose to switch to them

Did the energy club not give you an accurate quote based on the current market position at the time of your quote?

What i think would of been a better use of your time instead writing such a stupid remark would of been to do another comparison and then switch to a cheaper product.

When did you two Newbies apply to switch?

If it was before 12 Feb, then you will get the price/tariff quoted to you. These prices are guaranteed until 15 Apil.
You should be aware that you signed up to a variable rate taiff (assuming it was the Pioneeer one) and so that prices may go up or down. You will receive at least 1 months notice of any price rise (together with details of how you could avoid such price rise)
The option to choose a fixed rate tariff is made available to you via the club (as it is with any comparison site)

If you applied since 12 Feb, then I am pretty sure you were given that latest increased prices anyway so what's the issue?.

I don't think even Martin gets informed about supplier price rises before they're announced to the great unwashed public...
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Wywth is quite right in terms of the 12th feb. I was hasty in criticising ML site, late night hard day etc! Phoned co op who confirmed my tarriff remains as the quote
