Hi BertThe Raccoon,
I sent a letter of complaint and the reply i got was that unless i cleared the outstanding amount they would transfer my account to debt collectors which would involve further cost at which point i sent a further letter of complaint saying unless i had a satisfactory resolution to my complaint i would refer the matter to the regulator. The reply to which was another letter from their head of collections demanding payment within 10 days or they would take action in the county court.

Have you tried writing to Close?0

Are you sure those letters were responses to the "complaint?
They do sound to be separate debt chasing correspondence.0 -
Have you tried writing to Close?
Hi dacouch,
I have spoken to Close and told them that the policy with BeWiser was canceled and that there is no need for any finance because the outstanding payments were not applicable as the cost of insurance was covered by the deposit. I gave them full details of the Bewiser rep who canceled the policy who had told me the Close would be informed. Further more i got the name of the Close rep i spoke to and she told me that my comments had been recorded on their system.
However since then the letters i have received from Close indicate they can`t cancel things from their end until they are told by Bewiser(For obvious reasons). It`s just one of many i repeat many examples of Bewiser systems not being fit for purpose and Bewiser staff not carrying out their duties properly.
Thanks

If there were cancellation charges (Assuming they're valid) they would be due.
Close are a third party finance company, when you cancel, the broker or insurer sends the balance of any refund to close to clear the finance. Any shortfall will be chased0 -

The only charges due to close are those set up in the original credit agreement. Once the policy has been stopped/canceled the charges due are the charges due at the point of cancellation..
The cancellation charges (if valid) are due to be paid direct to Bewiser. The only people to ask me for these charges to date are Bewiser themselves.
Thanks

Thanks to information i have just gained from The Consumer Action Group a thread named `stitched up like a kipper` looks like i`m not the only BeWiser customer to receive unfair treatment and poor customer service there appears to be loads of furious ex customers who thankfully seemed to have received refunds.

This has now totally hardened my resolve to get the FOS involved to get my case assessed and the Default Notice thrown out and the cancellation fee returned.

It's not just you .. http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews238910.html
The best reviews are clearly from staff continually mentioning there names ... Joke of a company .Can I find out my credit score? You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)0 -
Hi again Sirlaughalot,
I know you said you’d rather not have Be Wiser try and help but should you change your mind, please do email dawn.g@bewiser.co.uk. She can contact you at a time that’s good for you and she can try and get this matter resolved for you.
Thank you,
