Help- PLEASE!

Options
My mum is away for a month. I am a named driver on her policy.

I had a letter today from Direct Line. I had an accident in November and they have wrote to me to say that they haven't received their costs from the insurance company and to pay within 14 days or they will be leaving it with a solicitor.

The insurance company won't speak to me or my dad because it is all in my mums name.

I have searched and searched on the internet but there is no help. My friend has said to leave it- but should I?!

  • If you're female / can do a believable female voice, phone them and pretend to be your mum
  • Ah, the great Direct Line.

    DO NOT PAY THEM.

Firstly- can you contact your Mum? If so ring her ASAP and get her to contact the insurance company and to talk to them.

This exact thing happened to me 2 years ago.

They sent me a letter saying they couldn't get the cost off my insurers and that I would have to pay it myself. I contact my insurance company who were still investigating the claim and told me to pop the letter in an envelope and to send it to them and they would contact Direct Line.

Pay peanuts and you get monkeys.

Have a good read of your (mum's) insurance policy. It will probably say that all correspondence should be forwarded to them.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Direct Line appear to be doing the right thing for their policyholder. I would want them to do the same for me.

Agreed. Don't try to contact anybody, just forward all correspondence to your mum's insurance company as it's for them to sort out.
