Regarding the kids...
At 17 and 15, they're old enough to be having their own part time jobs.
Doing so will teach them the value of a quid, how much you need to work to earn that quid and because they've worked for it, they're more likely to show restrain in spending it - all of which will be a valuable lesson for the future.
My eldest son can't wait until he's 13 so he can go get a paper round and earn his own cash.0 -
