Rouse? "Drugs Awareness Books in School"

Has anyone else been contacted regarding sponsorship of books to be distributed within classrooms for drugs awareness?
I had a call today from someone who tells me I agreed just prior to Xmas to printing books to be sponsored by me, and they were now ready for distribution. I explained that I never agree to business over the phone and they told me that all the paperwork had been sent and agreed to prior to Xmas. I am now convinced that I did not agree to this and I requested a copy of the signed contract. Apparently I didn't sign any contract. I then terminated the conversation. Has anyone else been contacted like this?

This is a new one: it is good that you have publicised it. They usually try to get you to sign up for advertising, perhaps in a police magazine. Perhaps too many people are wise to those scams.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Agree, scam. There's a long thread on this board about some of the previous 'incarnations' of this with advice on dealing with it. Forgive me for not finding it tonight, but I'm away and my internet connection is v. flaky ...Signature removed for peace of mind0

No I've not heard of that one, but it does sound like a very familiar scam calls I often get purporting to be from the local police, local fire service, etc.
First question you need to ask yoursef is, even if this were and honest offer, would you really be interested in sponsoring such a publication?
A publication to be distributed throught all the classrooms in all the schools would be very expensive and I doubt you would be the only sponsor of such literature (unless you have the finacial backing of someone like Coca Cola or McDonalds!)
Even if true you will only get a mention or logo somewhere. Is this really a good use of your marketing funds?
Ask yourself, is the product or service you are selling even appropriate for shoolchildren? If not, i would suggest any money spent advertising to schoolchildren would be a complete waste of money.
Finally, if you are still not sure if this is a scam, and you would be interested in advertsing to schoolchildren, give your local school or education authority a call and ask them if they have ever heard of such a publication and if so are they planning to buyt it and how many copies. That will give you a a basis to decide if your marketing budget is going to be spent in the most cost effective manner.0 -
