    We spoke to the builder and he seemed liked a nice guy, gave us a quote and chatted for about 45 minutes and he didnt get annoyed with all the questions (very good) but we have got a few more coming at the end of this week and will compare quotes with the building work they have done and take it from there.

    The Mrs is always more paranoid than me and just over cautious sometimes but better to be cautious now than be annoyed at the end

    It's definitely better to be cautious now!

    I've just been through this and out of the 6 builders I had round, 2 didn't bother getting back to me. Of the others, there was only one who I wouldn't have given the job to, for reasons other than price. I can't explain why as there was nothing he said or did, it was just a feeling I had.

    You need to be abe to work with whoever you choose, so use your wife's paranoia as part of the decision making process.
