Right went for interview number 2, and it went pretty much the same way as interview number 1, He said we are just looking to see whats available out there at the moment and that no job has been made available yet, he also said that I already have a job at the moment and that he has CV's from unemployed folk etc hinting that if a job did become available it would be going to someone who needed a job. The first guy also said about me having a job etc at the moment and that I am secure, Now that's not what is supposed to happen according to all the experts from various places, its supposed to be easier to get a job if you already have one not something that is held against you in favor of someone on the dole, I mean you're damned if you do damned if you don't basically.

Or look at it this way, Company 1 and/or 2 could employ someone on the dole and after so long it doesn't turn out too well for 1 reason or other and the employer decides to contact you and offer you a position.

Possibly, who knows. Looking at the positives it gave me interview experience I guess.

Yes you got some experience which is a plus. I can understand you frustration with the whole " no job has been made available yet ", it does get your hopes up when they say that.

At least you have had some responses to your CV's you sent, maybe have another bash at sending some more out to other firms.

    Good luck with your search.

I guess this is a form of networking.

They got your CV, liked it enough to call you in and now they have a face to match to the CV.

Did you get a contact name/number.

Give both an email/call and say thanks for the chat, it was nice meeting them and look forward to working with them should any opportunities come up in the future.
    Bad luck breeds bad luck.

    Damn I'm doomed.

I was working when I went on a wild goose chase (twice) with companies who were 'just looking'. One even used me at the interview to ask me how to set up a spreadsheet and how was the best way to show certain figures etc.

I have found the opposite that companies favour those in a job rather than those with no job.

I agree with the advice to follow up both interviews with an email thanking them for their time and emphasising that you are still interested in working for them if they can get funding for the job. You are NOT doing something desperate doing this, you are being polite and pro-active.

If you just leave it up to them, they may think you weren't really interested and if something does come up, they look at somebody else.

I think it's just as hard to get a job either in employment or unemployed. Saying that the interview has been more experience for you.

I've had about 6 jobs in my life time, 1 I walked out off, 2 closed, and 2 I got paid off in due to lack of work,4 times I managed to get work within a week, 1 took me 4 months, but I've never managed to leave one job for another, its only when I had no work I managed to get another. Not sure the reasoning for this really and I've had quite a few interviews for other companies the times I've been in employment, so certainly for me its not been easier to get another job when In employment, the only possible reasoning for this I can think off is employers want to pay the least possible, so if I am in employment and say earning £9 per hour with my current employer, I go to the interview and say I am earning £9 per hour this guy then has to beat £9 per hour, so he takes the cheap option and takes someone of the dole and can pay min wage or whatever as he has no room for maneuver
