New car on finance before new number plate release?

Also look out for their con with finance when they quote flat rate and not APR.
Haha - WRONG!!
Flat rate is used because it's easy to understand and calculate;
4% flat is £40 of interest, per £1,000 borrowed, per year
6% flat is £60 of interest, per £1,000 borrowed, per year
I can't see a 'con' there?
APR is almost impossible to calculate, and is often manipulated (i.e. lower APR doesn't always mean cheapest loan).
Here's the best thing to do - get a quote from the dealer, calculate the total amount payable (i.e. 36 x £180 = £6480), and then see how that compares to a bank loan. DO NOT 'TRUST' THE APR FIGURE ALONE.And that my son, is how to waft a towel!0 -

I think this was suggested, but in the end I'm 99.9% certain buyers will not be given this option. And that my son, is how to waft a towel!0 -
but I know they'll try and sell me the newest most expensive option available
Honestly, this is generally an incorrect assumption.
The dealer will probably have more profit margin in a used car, than in a competitively priced (but more expensive) new one. Also, a lot of sales people now work on a fixed rate, so get paid exactly the same regardless of which car you buy.And that my son, is how to waft a towel!0 -
If you are happy with a 62 plate car, you should be able to push a decent deal as February will be a very quiet month for them.
Also consider a car at a few months old, ex demo etc.. After 11 brand new cars in a row, my current car was bought at 3 months old and I paid £22k against £28k list price.
Most manufacturers work in quarterly campaigns, so a car registered anytime between Jan 1st and March 31st means the same to the dealer. Yes, the salesman may want you to have your car in Feb so that he get's his commission a month earlier, but it won't make a huge difference to the price.
February is actually the busiest month of the year in terms of sales and getting the cars prepared ready for early March, but yes, less cars are registered in the month.
Sorry if it seems like I'm having a go eschaton but we've discussed your car before - nobody has ever actually paid anything like £28k for one (despite the RRP), so it's unfair to make the OP think they have done badly if they don't save £6k...And that my son, is how to waft a towel!0 -

It's sad but you really are obsessed with stalking people online.
You also seem to think you know the right answer to everything but don't - I bet the letters F A I L are different colours on your keyboard
And, we didn't discuss anything, you just made an !!!! of yourself.

Also be aware that a 'lifetime' warranty on a pre-reg for first owner may not be passed on to you as the dealer could be the official first owner.
You really need to decide what car you want as some chains/marques give larger discounts than others.0 -
