Yep, we are, rolls of love heart sweets with personalised wrappers, worked out 12p a favour....hardly a lot of money wasted.
If they get left, I'll eat them myself :rotfl:
Ooh, where did you get those from, that's cheaper than others I've seen?
I was thinking of personalised seed packets of ox-eye daisies, which were quite cheap on eBay, as I love them, but don't know if it's a waste.0 -

I got the actual sweets from a local lady who makes sweet trees for 7p per pack but I've been reliably informed that a lot of pound shops do bags of them too! The labels can be bought on Ebay for around £5 for 100, I just glued them on myself and that seems to be what most charge the extra amount for!
Very happily married on 10th April 2013

We had small boxes with 2 choc truffles in - for us they doubled as table decorations as we had the boxes in with our colour scheme. there was only one person I'm aware of who didn't want the truffles which was fine as I ate them0

Ours double as place names and cost about 70p per person, about £40 for the lot and like i say that's a favour + placecard in one
plus they're just sweets so won't just get binned.

Thanks everyone for all the different ideas. The charity donation really does mean a lot to me so I think I'll go with that and just not tell the in-laws until I really have to

I'm not sure that I want to either. It seems like a lot of money to spend on sweets or little tokens that will be gone or lost in seconds. Especially as there will be cake so I don't see the need for additional sweets (the buffet is afternoon tea so even more cakes there)
I made the following for my daughters wedding (as a surprise), they went down a treat, everyone took them home and then commented on the lovely chocolate (Lidl cheap as chips chocolate, Cadburys mini bars & Milky Way bars for the children with personalised wrappers). It all cost me very little other than my time.
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
Meadows- they're amazing, I may just steal your idea for mine now!
The way I see it is it's your wedding, if you want to put down chocs or a charity donation or nothing then that's absolutely fine. The folk you've invited are there to share your day, not just for the freebies!0 -

Steal away
Yes your day is for you to choose how you want it and there are no hard & fast rules.
The message I put on the bags were "Thank You for Helping * & * Celebrate their wedding day".
As well asfor three young children to keep them occupied during the meal I did individual gift bags for all five children that attended (3 children and 2 babies) to take away with them.
Each bag was personalised for them and had a similar message to the sweet bags, the two babies had a cuddly toy and the other three had little gifts, stickers, glider (plane), a few filler toys, some plasticine, girl or boy gifts etc.
Again all cost pence really but all little tokens to make the day special.
As our daughter did not go for the traditional garter etc. I made this for her # 6 as the lucky Something Old, Something New etc.
When it come to wedding there is lots you can do to not only personalise, keep costs down, make your day different from others, be what you want it to be, and all with a little effort.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -

Personally I think favours are a nice touch, particularly as it's possible to do it so cheaply, but each to their own. We all have to prioritise when it comes to wedding planning, and our in-laws' priorities don't have to be our own.0 -
We are having little boxes of tablet (Scottish fudge) then on the table little bowls of love hearts, chocolate balls and hearts.
We are doing scratchcards and I'm thinking of making chocolate lolliesFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0
