The Sun/News of the World UK Holiday Break Deals

While I do not disagree with anything that has been said in this thread .. bad customer service, deserve better and all that ... one does have to ask what do you expect for £12.50. This was probably only to cover the cost of the Sun running the advert and Haven was probably only attempting to fill a few empty beds in off-season.
In some cases the phrases 'vaue for money', 'buyer beware', 'you get what you pay for' are pertinent. I always wondered what places like Haven would say if you turned up at their gate and offered peanuts for an empty room saying that they would get their money through the bars, entertainment and other payable activities. I have heard of people doing this with cruise lines (pre 9/11) and basically getting a cruise for nothing more than an admin charge. A friend of my fathers used to spend a lot of time in London and he would turn up at some of the poshest hotels at 11PM, stick £20 on the counter and tell them that he wanted B&B and that was all he was willing to pay ... they usually took his money (better that than an empty room).
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -

We considered either primrose valley with Haven or butlins Skegness for our holiday this year as we need somewhere to keep a very lively toddler happynot to mention the o.h.
and i am pleased after reading your story that we decided to go for Butlins, well it had Bob the Builder as well (sadly no neil morrisey..boo ..lol).
Such a shame that you have had a bad experience but i certainly dont blame you for taking this up with both the Sun & Haven. When they do have the nerve to bombard you with deals to go on holiday with them i hope you give them what for
By the sound of this c@ck up,you would have been just as well off staying at Butlins as it is now.
Really feel for you.0 -
Hi,
last yar we had a four day break at Great British Holiday/Haven site in Clacton.
We apid full price, booked from their brochure. Yet we still had to wait for hours, queue in an undignified line for keys, and the staff couldn't have been less helpful.
Clearly this company's motto is' everything is too much trouble'.
And worse, the caravans were filthy, and the promised entertainment of an all action park was non existent. There were no children's clubs, no games or competitions for any age group, and we ended up spending loads off site to amuse everybody.
Never again ever.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
The best way to settle things such as these is look up the manager/directors home address on the electoral roll, then turn up at his door demanding to discuss this issue. If any problems, repeat. Also comment on how nice the paintwork on his car is....A bargain is only a bargain if you would have brought it anyway!0

TWO hols. Hope you have a nice time.
That'll explain why, despite me posting my coupons straight away, I always get my cheque sent back.
I guess they don't limit them to one per household.Watch out people. You don't know what lurks around the corner for you![/SIZE]0 -
