"Micheldever says it accepts that some motorists opt for part worn tyres as a means of saving money by buying from outlets that conform to the rules and label the tyres correctly. However it claims that many used tyre dealers are ignoring the requirements under the legislation which have been put in place to protect motorists and other road users."
I'm not going to answer either way, I'll leave it to those, such as in the links who have the time to test these things properly. However the cheapest IS200D on Autotrader is £4000, is it worth scrimping?, Either way it's your choice.0 -

No worries, Thanks for your help. I just assumed they wouldnt be able to sell them.0 -
They only way they can test a tyre is to test it to destruction. if or lasts the whole test then it was good. But not fit for use anymore.
If it failed during the test it may have saved your life.
If tested means they plugged the holes that they told the previous owner they could not fix because it was too big or too close to the sidewall.
But here it is all fixed and offered to you for a good price.

The reason they said that is because your car TPS system which monitors the number of revolutions each tyre is turning and if the you have tyres with 2 different amounts of thread then the TPS will be going off constantly especially if your doing motorway miles - this system is different to the TPS system where each tyres is monitored via individual valves in each tyre

A search around the various recognised online sellers should find you some good reasonably priced new mid range tyres for not much more than part worns.
I wouldn't bother with part worns unless i knew or trusted the source and knew the tyres origin, i have sold almost new used sets online but gave a full description which was the absolute truth, i'd be looking for such if funds were tight.0 -
Thanks for all the advice. I have decided to go for a couple of new tyres.0
