Lolly has been spayed today!!!

:(

Well took poor Lola to the vets this morning, felt soooo cruel as she was happily dragging me along the road :p, until she realised where she was heading and then she turned back :D,
So my beautiful girl is about to be picked up with a lampshade on her head that has to be on for 10 days:eek:, god help me and Lola...................
Cant wait to race home from work and see her, lots and lots of cuddles tonight (so just like any other night then haahaha)

Will let you all know how she is getting on tomoz, her Granny is coming to look after her when i go to work at 1.....

samx

Poor Lola! She may be a bit groggy and wobbly this evening and the lampshade will disorientate her even more. If she is being watched 24/7, I would leave it off and only use it if needed. A mid-line incision is quite difficult for most dogs to reach and more damage is done by them leaping on/off furniture than nibbling at stitches! I've had cats and dogs of both sexes that have been neutered or had other ops and have never needed the lampshade treatment.

I've had 3 girls spayed in the last 10 years and none of them needed an elizabethan collar. However I was at home all day with them so maybe that makes a difference as if had shown any interest in nibbling stitches I would have been watching hawk like!

I seem to recall only the 1st night was the worst- slept downstairs on the settee with a woozy drunken hound until the anaesthetic wore off. After that the problem was keeping them from running around!!- they did not want to be lead walked!!

I know poor Lolly, well she wouldn't speak to other half after he picked her up and sat on the rug and only moved when I came in..... she was very woozy all night I hand fed her some chicken, she slept with me and about 3 she woke up and did NOT want the lampshade on, she has been jumping on and off furniture and has had a drink and been for a wee wee!!
Think I will take the lampshade off tomoz after the vets visit...... forgot to mention she had her dew claws out too, they are laways growing inwards so she has two illuminous pink socks on......

Hopefully you are over the worst. Mine didn't have complications like bandaged paws as well! If she is agitated (whatever) you might like to ask the vet about painkillers for the first few days as I imagine the paws could be giving some grief.....and are the just in the perfect place for a chew too!!
    Good luck.

Everything is fine now, and The Lolster is back to being Red Rum, I swear she was a horse in a previous life.....

Her little tum looks fine, its stitched inside, she has a little stitch on both her back paws which seem to be annoying her the most... she ripped her little pink socks off and I have now taken her helmet off and she is behaving.............

    thanks for all your posts!
