You can have it based on an estimate but the margin for error is much smaller so could easily result in an overpayment.

Another quick question - if I stop working BEFORE I hit £4.5k(ish), would we then be entitled to tax credits? I planned to start my maternity leave 3 weeks before my due date but I know I can do so up to 11 weeks before.

Congrats on the babies both of you.
Just curious about one thing Claree_X, why do you say you won't have a job to go back to? You have the right to return to your old job after Ordinary Maternity Leave.0 -

Because I'm a temp (through an agency) they have no obligation to keep my job open.My Debt Free Diary

Presuming you are employed by the agency, they have no obligation to keep your assignment open, but do have an obligation to continue employing you and paying you SMP. At the end of your SMP, or shortly before, let them know you want to return to work and they should begin looking for suitable assignments for you. So it is not strictly true to say they will not keep your job open as you should continue to be employed until you request otherwise.0 -

Wasn't aware of that - thanks.
Not going to hold my breath though, I've been registered with agencies before who've not been able to find me anything. Ahh wellMy Debt Free Diary
