Missing a payment - affect credit rate?

Hi,
I wasn't sure where to post this but basically I missed a payment with Next (genuinely by mistake). When I received my bill, I tried to pay the balance online. The screen froze at the payment page. I left it that day and with work taking over my brain, I forgot to ring them up to check if the payment had gone through. I received an email this morning to say that the payment was late and that they would take legal action and be forced to apply a late fee if I didn't meet the minimum amount required. It said something about it possibly affecting my future credit.
I was mortified and still am!! I paid the total balance again. I am now worried that this will affect my credit rating? I will be looking to apply for a mortgage later in the year, will this affect it? I've never missed a payment with any company before.
Any advice would be great, thanks!

Depends if they report the late payment to credit agencies. If they do then it could well affect your ability to borrow in future... Although if this is the only blemish and you have a sizeable deposit then at worst the effect will be in be form of higher interest rate.
If your credit file is crucial then setup a DD for min payment so if you do forget you have a safety net.0 -
Agree use direct debit in future or set reminders on your computer/ smartphone/ paper calendar.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
