Hi, ludite here!

I've got some TV programmes in avi file format and would like to burn them onto DVD to watch on TV.

Simple question - how?

Please bear in mind I'm useless with a computer so the easier the better!

Thanks

For me its nero 7 all the way, nice and easy to manage and convert the file then burn to a dvd.

You can pick an oem version up for a few pound online,m for instance:

I'm trying to do the same thing but when i go into Nero 7 help i get the following under "Creating a DVD-Video"..

"With Nero Burning ROM 7 you can burn a DVD if the DVD-Video title is already available. If, on the other hand, you would like to convert video files into a DVD-Video title, you can use Nero Vision 4 but not Nero Burning ROM 7."

OR perhaps I am doing something wrong?

    Hi poolprouk

If you want to make a DVD that's playable on a DVD player you don't just burn an avi file straight to a disc.
First you must make a DVD Video title, then burn that to disc.

A DVD video title is a folder. The folder contains two other folders. One is called Audio_TS and the other is called Video_TS.
The Audio folder is empty and the Video folder contains DVD compliant video files and some other information files for the DVD player.

So, if you're starting with an avi file, use Nero Vision 4 to convert it and create the DVD Video title.
When you've done that you can think about burning it to disc using Nero Burn Rom 7.
