I have just found Loan paper work dating back to 1998 with Midland Bank. It shows I paid £2438.37p in total for credit protection insurance. Is this PPI, and would HSBC Pay out for Midland loans dating back this far. I was self employed at the time. Thanks for any advise

DOn't know, you'll have to complain to find out. You wil probably have to have more info than just the agreement too, statements to show you paid it all would help.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

Just my opinion but If you think you paid for it then claim for it! Even if you go through a claims company you will still get 75% of what you said goodbye to years ago. There are a lot of people on here that seem to be dead against PPI claimants who have obviously worked for banks but don't let them put you off claiming. You have nothing to lose...claim..claim..claim!!!!0

Don't use a claims company! Stupid advice! They just make you do the paperwork and send it off for you, and then charge you for it. If you believe you were mis-sold then get your paperwork and evidence together and claim yourself for free.
Check to see if your ppi did cover you. Being self employed doesn't always mean it won't cover you. It depends on the T&C's.
Good luck.Total Mortgage OP £61,000Outstanding Mortgage £27,971Emergency Fund £62,100I AM NOW MORTGAGE NEUTRAL!!!! <<Sep-20>>0 -
Also if you use a CMC and the lender sets off your redress so you receive no cash the CMC will suddenly become a lot less pro consumer and a lot more aggressive in their collection of your lovely new unnecessary debt than your lender ever were.My username refers to my enthusiasm for 'asking the stupid question' I don't think you're stupid!0

I was self employed at the time however I was going to add that I was told if I didn't take out the protection the loan would not have been approved0 -
Hi Paul, We also took out a loan back in the mid 1990s with the then HSBC, we received letters at the end of the year asking if we wanted them to check the PPI situation on our current loan. On filing in the form I asked for them totake into account previous loans. We got a letter 7 weeksago stating they are looking in to all 5 of the loans we have had with them. So yes, I would say HSBC are responsible for Midland loans, and like you my husband was self employed and had it implied that no PPI, no loan. Nothing to lose but a bit of time, paper and ink, go for it0

Hi again,
thought i would give you an up date. As i said I asked HSBC to consider previous loans, got a letter today they are honoring our claim for all 5 loans. The first was taken out in 1996, this was not a big loan about £5,000 tops. we are getting just over £1,200 for this one alone. My husband, like you was self employed at the time, I was working part time but made sure they knew I would be quitting work as i was pregnant. So once again, GO FOR IT0
