My Epson printer options allow me to 'stretch to fit', I just enter the paper size and job done :)

Other option would be to change the size of the photo on your laptop before sending to printer.

what resolution have they been scanned at, when scanning did you just crop to fit the paper, or did you also scan the non photo part of the glass screen?

many printing apps (even the windows build in print images) allow zoom to fit - but choices made above may impact on results likely to get...

You need a DTP program something like this (free):

create an A4 page import your pic and resize as required - you printer won't be able to print edge to edge but you should have a border anyway (Most framed pics have a border)

You'll need to have scanned them at minimum 300dpi to get a decent result, if you are blowing them up say 100% from A5 to get to A4, then that res is effectively halved when you print them at A4.

Irfanview is another option, the plug ins are worth getting as well.

    http://www.irfanview.com/

If you open an image with irfanview, click image then resize, you can set it to 8.27 inches by 11.69 inches for A4. Then there is an option to stretch to page.

Have you checked your printer settings for borderless? Or maybe post the exact model of the printer
  • do print preview - you should find options to fill the paper

    or

on the print dialog use the options tab or button to find the fill the size of paper option
