Hello MSE'ers!

I read a thread on here a while ago which I have been thinking about recently, unfortunately I cannot find it anymore.

The person posting mentioned having a mobile app which told him which electrical units were in use in his office, so he knew where staff had left the lights on etc. I have been thinking to use this in my home as family members are really not too considerate with the energy costs.

Is anybody aware of such a thing?

I believe you'd need a smart meter, do you have one installed yet? That then communicates with the app on your smart phone. For example

Worry about the energy guzzlers not the small stuff like lighting and media gadgets - so heating, hot water, power showers, washing machine, tumble dryer. Use timer switches and thermostats. Otherwise you are just going to spend half your life arguing with your family over pennies.
