Santander 123 current account refused

Ozret, if I'm reading your posts right, you already have a Santander current account and a Santander savings account and wish to replace the latter with a 123? In which case, as ColdIron points out, you can't fund a 123 with an internal transfer (with the benefit of hindsight I think that's what the counter staff were telling you too), but you could either consolidate everything into the 123 (it is a current account after all) or alternatively have your wages paid into the 123 and then transfer them out to your other current account if you wish to maintain separate pots....0

I'm afraid it's not me confusing investment banking with high street banking, but the bankers themselves! There has been talk of getting the various institutions to separate their different banking arms to give greater security to the 'normal' branch account holders, but at the moment it is only talk.
I don't for one minute think it's my right to have an account, nor do I think that they have done anything 'wrong'. I just feel that it would be polite to give us a proper explanation.
Having checked the credit report (the bank's letter confirms that it uses Experian) there is no record of a search by the bank. Also there is no record of my contract phone or my credit account with Royal Mail, and I thought these would show. Anyway I will give Santander a call later and see what they say.
PS Just had a look at their Facebook page. It seems that the service / online banking is so bad that maybe I'll reconsider!Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're probably right. Henry Ford0 -
Did you ever have an account with a company Santander bought, such as A&L? From what you say, they appear to have data about you on file and have turned your application down on the strength of that data. Or it might be a case of mistaken identity if you share a name and DOB with someone else.
As to you giving them a miss after you saw their Facebook page: I am sure they would be heartbroken. Or they wouldn't care. One of these two.0 -

Thank you for your comment Innovate. (I must say I hold you in awe after reading your many posts on the GIOL forum!).
No, the only bank accounts we've ever had have been current and savings accounts with Barclays (ugh). I suppose that I thought things might be difficult as we'd lived abroad for 12 years, but that's a good reason for trying to sort things out when we come to hurdles.
I've been snowed under with ebay sales since I last postedand therefore haven't spoken to Santander yet. But I did speak to Experian today, and they said that our bank accounts should show up on the report and also the Barclaycard should show up on my husband's account but they don't. Also if Santander had done a search it also would have shown up on our credit report, so it seems they didn't. I spoke to Barclays Bank (don't even ask!) and, in short, they say that we have to write to Data Exceptions Team and ask them to share our information with Experian, but the Sainsbury's Visa Card shows up and we didn't have to write to them. Barclaycard said that they would send a form which we have to complete to allow them to share information.
Is the above normal? I suppose because of our absence from the UK it would be good to fill out the credit report.
Oh, and apparently the credit accounts I have with Tesco Mobile and Royal Mail won't count because they don't share their information with Experian.
You know I can only begin to imagine how heartbroken Santander would be not to have us a clients. They just don't realize it yetWhether you think you can or you think you can't, you're probably right. Henry Ford0
