Indeed, that's what I'd think. As, I expect, would £100 worth of groceries purchased at the petrol station; they all go through in the same transaction, therefore the same MCC...hmm! (mind you, the hiked up price would probably mitigate the cashback)
Could be worthwhile if you are planning on buying something from somewhere that the petrol station sells gift cards for.
This happened a couple of years ago. Egg were doing something like 4% cashback on Shell petrol. Someone on here bought a Next giftcard from the petrol station (getting the cashback) and used it to pay off some of the balance on his wife's Next account.

I found that shopping on Tesco.com does not receive any cashback. I ordered a Kindle for Christmas, to be delivered to my nearest store (stocks were limited so I ordered online to guarantee I got one) but as Tesco Direct and Tesco the store have different merchant numbers, they did not recognise the former as a supermarket, and so no cashback was received.

Didn't work out too badly, as I went through TopCashback so did get some money back, but could have got almost £10 off if had the merchant code worked.

Presumably though, you could buy it in store and you'd get the cashback.
