New microwave needed

Ok, pig sick of buying microwaves thast only last 2 years then need replacing.
1st one bog standard jobby, internals rusted out.
So bought a so called S/S version next only to find the silver internal surfaces where just painted, rusted out again.
Searched out an all S/S version next, Delonghi, (sp), nice and shiny inside and out, 2 years later the only bit that isn't stainless, the doors internal surround, has rusted through.
Now these have been delonghi, sharp etc, not rubbish names but probably all made in China but what isn't?
The annoying thing is that function wasn't an issue with any of them, they were binned simply because they were cosmetically ugly and swmbo has a real fear of radiation leaks from anything less than perfect.
So I have short listed a few all S/S microwaves in both simple and combination functions, ie grill, convection facilities etc.
Any one have any better luck than me or any avoid at all cost stories before I buy what appears to be a very short life expectancy product.:(:(

I'll probably get beaten up for what I am about to say, but you do get what you pay for.
Like the Miele microwave thats lasted me 22 years. Even the bulb is original and it gets a proper hammering. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Seems very strange that they are "Rusting" even the painted ones should take a while to "rust through" Are you cleraning it and more importantly WHAT are you cleaning it with. Even S/Steel will tarnish if you use chlorine based cleaning products like bleach etc. you need to use the right cleaner and DO NOT use scouring pads as these wreck the paint and scratch the steel leading to rust and tarnishing on S/Steel.... non scratch pads and elbow grease straight after use if there are any spills or mishaps. I've a Delonghi Combi microwave and it get quite regualr use and still looks like new after 5 years. No offence but if you look after the things, keep them clean and follow the cleaning instructions they will last.0

Don't worry you won't offend. This one's a delonghi ag820agh by the way, microwave/grill.
After researching this morning the rusting issue is just that, a big issue, lots of folks have the same issue.
We are pretty house proud so it gets cleaned whenever it needs it or every week failing that. We always use some sort of kitchen surface cleaner with anti micro bio spec. We use a cover or cook in a sealed/lidded container whenever possible and they aren't being ruined by scratching, the stainless on this one is still immaculate, just the painted inner door that's gone. (They actually sell the inner door trim or the complete inner door as a spare part so that reassures me it's nothing I'm doing wrong.
Regarding getting what you pay for?, well I can't see anything better finish wise in more expensive units, and that's all that's failed remember, they all still seem to have the inner door finished in paint.
I'm pretty sure it must be condensation or rather steam that's giving rise to the problem, and the rust on the inner door on this one has come through from the inside of the door, the bit you can't get at to clean or scratch.
Anyway any reasonable price options by recommendation?
I was thinking Baumatic, no doubt made in China now, but aren't Bosch?
Looking at it the other way go for the cheapest and treat it as throw away?;);)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

It's sad to say but unless you make regular use of the "Combi" functions and it's not built in, this may be your way to go.. It's a throw away world !!0 -
My last one rusted through
I bought a new one, same model but this time I remove the turntable and wipe the collected moisture up every day. So far so good, I've had it over a year now and not a sign of rust. Food gives off a lot of moisture and it collects under the plate.

Had my Sharp Microwave a good few Years now and its still going strong, although its more likely as a result of rarely using it. I think microwaves are cheap enough to expect them to burn out after a couple of Years nowadays. I dont think I would spend a fortune on a microwave these days.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

The rusting in the corners was why I went s/s last time, the only bit that obviously isn't s/s is the surround to the glass, and that's what's gone. You just wouldn't expect it.
Incidentally I did read through several manuals for units I was interested in, they all said something about wiping out the interior after use:o:o, sorry not going to happen every time, the idea of a microwave is to save time, I'm not going to spend that time mopping it out:D
Any way we went with this;

2 years labour and 5 years parts waranty:T, we'll see.;)
And by the way, in true money saving fashion, I managed to blag free delivery off Boots, saving £19.99 :T:TI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

I leave the door open on mine. Dries the inside except under the platter.0
