Could you not take a payment via faster payment. Most people have internet/phone banking. So could simply pay via this method.

But his point was that some clients have no funds and need to borrow on their cards to pay him.

Sorry, but I REALLY take exception to that. "You" (not [necessarily] the poster personally I quickly add) are effectively suggesting that I am a thief, with no basis, evidence or even vague suggestion of guilt. That is slander in all but technical form.

I never suggested anything of the sort.

You asked a question about why a bank would check out someone who wanted a card terminal / merchant account.

Answer: Because doing so gives the person the ability to withdraw funds which they may not be entitled to.

It may surprise you to know that SOME PEOPLE ARE DISHONEST and sometimes use well-established systems and procedures such as card processing systems and VAT reclaim procedures fraudulently.

I don't know you personally and have no idea whether you are honest or not, and I haven't said anything to suggest you were dishonest. If you think I have, you need to have another read of what I said, because you are wrong.

I read post after post on here about people whining about having debt collectors chasing them and what can they do about it, but when it's the other side of the coin and it's me, as a small business, sending the collection agencies around to scum who don't pay their bills for no good reason, which then means that in turn MY bills to suppliers struggle to get paid on time even though I would wish to pay them straight away (because I'm like that) - and it impacts MY credit rating because of it - then to be called a 'dubious character' to boot just stinks.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Wow! This surely deserves nominations for both the biggest misunderstanding and the most inappropriate overreaction awards...
