wages not gone into account!!! need to pay a credit agreement

apologies if this is in the wrong section but wasn't sure where to ask my question!!
i'm not due to actually get paid until the last friday of every month so i could be worrying unduly? but since i started work its always been paid the day before (i.e today). my problem is i have an agreement with my k and co account to make a payment by tomorrow and if my money doesn't go in i won't be able to meet it as i don't have enough money in my account. its only a temporary agreement but if i don't meet it i worry what will happen as they arn't the easiest of people to talk to in my opinion when you're in a bit of difficulty.
like i say hopefully the money will be in tomorrow but any suggestions what i can say to k and co if the money isn't there for me to make tomorrows payment.( tomorrow is the cut off day to make payment to leave it time to reach my account before sunday if that makes sense). sorry for waffling on but this has got me all worried this morning. thanks xx

Leaving it a little late. Why did you make the arrangement for payday?

Pay can go into an account any time of the day, and sometimes later the next (I've had that happen to me), so, setting an outgoing payment for that day is just madness.

If it comes off tomorrow, I suggest you move the payment date for next month to something a little more sensible.

  • Are you sure it is the last Friday and not the last working day of the month. The previous few months (except December when companies often do something differerent anyway) the two have coincided?

its not a date i chose its the date set by my catalogue company, usually it isn't a problem but tomorrow is the last day i can pay for it to get there on time for sunday ( my catalgue scheduled payments are every four weeks on a sunday). so not really madness on my part! maybe a bit of poor budgetting but i assumed my wages would be in.

Then ring them and tell them it isnt convenient due to the proximity to payday and request a different date. Most companies offer a range of options, sometimes the 1st of the month, 15th etc, or others. Ring them and ask.

Never assume wages go in...it sometimes doesnt happen and then you're in a fix. Remember what happened with Natwest? Some people just didnt get paid that day, they had to wait. I've had a company pay me up to 10 days later before now (I didnt tolerate that for long admittedly and left) but the point is the same.

OK, so anticipate the problem and ensure that there is sufficient funds present to cover the payment. This is your responsibility and will ultimately help you avoid unexpected bank charges in future.

More to the point, if you are living so close to the wire that you are broke on Payday, this might be a good time to re-evalute your current finances and step on over to the DFW (debt free wanabee) board for help with budgeting etc.

OP might be worth giving your bank a ring as if the payment from your works is in the system so to speak and pending sometimes you bank can see them as pending transactions and may be able to confirm to you if its on the way?

May be worth checking with your payroll dept just to make sure its due this week and not next-maybe the short month thing messes it up?

i spoke to my bank earlier and they said nothing pending and that they only know when i would know if that makes sense? going to check when i go into work if anyone knows anything my manager is on annual leave so not sure who to ask as she deals with payroll which is at head office not where i am based. i am now thinking maybe next week with it being a short month but then surely i would've been notified of any changes and my paperwork states payday is by the last friday of every month. have spoken to catalogue company as i've done nothing but worry and they basically said to ring back again tomorrow when i know if i've definately been paid or not and then we can take it from there.
i hate been in a position like this usually i can manage fine each month but because i assumed i would be paid today (mistake i can now see on my part and an assumption i won't make again) i've spent extra with it being half term doing fun stuff with the kids etc. . . . at least they enjoyed themselves lol. fingers crossed for better news tomorrow
  • Is there a number for the Head Office that you can ring to check when it goes in? Or someone else that deals with payroll when they are not in ie; assistant manager/supervisor.
What about other staff wages? Anyone there that can confirm if their wages are in.
    Back on the trains again!

going to ask someone when i go into work this evening if they've been paid or not. where i work is a bit of a strange set-up (nothing iffy lol) i work for a concession in a large store so not many staff, will find a number whilst there for pay-roll and will give them a ring but won't be until tomorrow as they will be strictly 9-5 and i don't start til 6pm. . . .but hopefully i won't need to ring them tomorrow.
