  • Beware of Quidco - really disappointed in them lately.

I bought 6 bags of Phileas Fogg last week in Tesco - uploaded the receipt and the next day it came back as "items ineligble".

After a 3 day wait for a Customer Support response, they got back to me and said that the description "CRISPS" which Tesco use for the "Cheese & Reilsh Phileas Fogg" flavour is not valid and indicates they could be any crisps - and they won't honour the cashback.

Even though the receipt also clearly shows at the bottom the 3For£3 Phileas Fogg applied twice - so the "CRISPS" must be Phileas Fogg.

Just beware of Quidco in future anyone thinking their cashback is fairly honoured.
  • Thanks LovingTescoForever and SuperSmoothie.
Actually my receipt says bubble chips at the top of the receipt and crisps as the multibuy savings at the bottom.

As I bought the American Bubble Chips Style Phileas Fogg I don't believe they can say that they are just any type of crisps but I'll wait and see.

Very odd. I always thought that they used software to determine what was on the receipt. They could even just type your receipt into https://www.tescopricepromise.co.uk and they can see every items full name. Which I assumed, that's what they did..

Surely that's a valid argument to go back to them with! I would log on to price promise, copy all items and send it back to them again-surely they can't decline it then!
I don't think I can hang on til Friday...
  • Yes I am really surprised they don't have some way of deciphering the receipts correctly.

About PricePromise - when I put the receipt codes into that myself it comes back with a message that my shop contained less than 10 items - so no detailed breakdown. They can't be using that themselves then since it only works on receipts with 10 or more "comparable" items.

Anyway I've claimed successfully with Quidco many times before on receipts that had less than 10 items - so I am baffled.

The Quidco support message to me said "CRISPS" was not Phileas Fogg - but I know for sure it is! Not impressed.

Ahh yes got to be 10 items or more. Forgot that:o

Hmm. A odd way to prove it would be to scan the crisps on self checkouts and on the screen it will show what they come up as. In your case "crisps" a few pictures might do it. However that is hassle and depends if your in the fighting mood. (Don't have to buy more crisps. Can just ask a staff member to cancel them off).

Or maybe the Quidco Rep could help us here. (However we are still annoyed about the mince pie offer:mad: )

It sounds like you were unlucky with the person who dealt with it. I bought a Terry's chocolate orange which showed on my Asda receipt as "Cadbury". I thought I was going to have trouble but both Quidco and TCB approved it without any problem. Makes a change though, I must say! ;)

Same for me, although Asda's receipts also have the barcode number so maybe that makes a difference.

It is a bit of a crazy situation though, when you buy something on the list of items but might not get the cashback due a strange/wrong description on the supermarket's system!
