hi, i hope someone can help, i have brought a dell external cd-rw "d/bay PD01S" from ebay, when i plugged it in it worked ok, but it only installed it as a cd-rom (not a cd-rw)
i downloaded the wrong driver from the dell website, and now the machine wont even dectect it when I plug it in!!
I have tried using the "add hardware" function in control pannel with no luck. the drive is not showing up on the device manager either (so i cant roll back the driver)
any ideas?? thanks

Does the link below help you find it in Device Manager, and get it working? -

Let's try from a different direction.
If you right-click My Computer, choose Manage, then click on Disk Management, does the drive show up there? If so, right-click the drive, choose Properties > Hardware > Properties, and you should at least be able to roll back or uninstall the driver. Follow by a reboot, re-connect the drive, and see if it is auto-detected properly, or if you get the opportunity to install the correct driver.0
