ATG booking fees

I have just booked two £18 tickets for Priscilla Queen of the Desert through ATG and been charged £11.90 booking fees. There was no mention of these fees until the checkout. I was very surprised as I have booked using ATG before and never paid fees like this. Has anyone else paid these fees to ATG, and does anyone know any way to avoid them apart from going to the box office in person (not always practical!)? As far as I can make out, nobody else sells tickets for these theatres!
Thank you!

if you have an ATG discount Card (£30 per year) you get special offers eg 2 for 1 on some shows and don't ever pay booking charges. Also if you go to the theatre booking office you don't get charges bookin g fees. (enyone- not just ATG card holders.0
