Hi there,
I have just started using outlook Express instead of outlook for my emails. I was wondering how I can group my email messages from sender so that any new ones come in under a persons name rather than just by date. I know this can be done in Outlook but can't seem to do it in Express.
I am sure this is really simple?!?!

click on the "from" column, it would then display emails alphabetically by sender.0

I have done that but I actually want all the emails from each person in a folder which can be expanded when a new email comes in. So instead of looking at all the emails I just have a heading with their name unless I expand it?
Does that make sense?!?!0 -
Message, Create Rule from message. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Thanks for that, but it is still not what I want to do. I just want to store all the emails that I receive under each persons name and when I get another email it shows as highlighted and I then expand the folder to bring up the new email as well as all other emails from that person or company.
I am probably not explaining myself very well but I can't think of any other way to explain it. I know it is something really simple with Outlook, just can't seem to find out how to do it with Express!0 -
Outlook Express is a free cut down version, so use Outlook if it does what you require! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I did not realise that. At the moment I do not have Microsoft Office loaded so can only use EXPRESS. Will i be able to transfer all the emails to Outlook when I finally manage to get it?0

I am pretty sure that, as Espresso said, you need to set up rules within OE so that as an email arrives from Joe Bloggs, it is automatically moved to a folder called 'mail from Joe Bloggs' (or whatever you want to call that folder).
In this case, after a send/receive, the 'mail from Joe Bloggs' folder will have a number in bold type after it, indicating the number of unread messages within it - i.e. you have new mail from Joe Bloggs.
Have a look at the link below and tell us if / why it is not what you are after - http://www.helpdesk.umd.edu/topics/email/general/853/0 -

If you have been using OE, as part of the installation routine for Outlook, you will be prompted to ask whether you want to import your emails / contacts etc from OE.
Note that you will also need to setup rules from within Outlook if you want to have a separate folder for each mail recipient, with their emails automatically forwarded to the appropriate folder.0
