Ending ESA & WTC

Hello,
I have been on ESA after undergoing a massive spinal operation.
I have been left with damaged leg nerves due to the op, and cannot walk far, i receive higher mobility DLA.
I am giving serious thought of accepting a job offer, for 16 hours a week.
Am I right in thinking, because I would work 16 hours, I could come off ESA, claim Working Tax Credits, with the disability element? Would there be a penalty for coming off ESA and claiming WTC straight away? Like a period where no claim can be considered?

There shouldn't be any penalties as such, you may even get a run on with your ESA (not sure though). The only thing is, it may take a week or 2 to get the WTC sorted out. The best thing you can do is go to entitledto.co.uk and put your details in. Some benefits have a run on, others don't. Sorry, can't remember which ones do.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

Pop details into entitled 2 benefit checker and see what comes out. Play with the what if scenario.
I don't believe they have a run on off still receiving jsa money. The run on if you have been on it for 26 weeks or more is housing council tax benefit and a job grant. Depending what you earn you may still be entitled to housing council tax benefit. You're best to put you details through entitled to.0 -
four week run on off housing benefit and a job grant is paid, if on ESA for over 26 weeks , but ESA is not paid for the four weeks.WTC would be calculated from the day the employment starts but can take a few weeks to be paid..0
