Hi i have pet insurance with churchill it is an emergency policy up to vaule of 500 pounds. My dog dislocated her hip had to be rushed to the vet just as the surgery was closing vet made her comfortable and sent her home with instructions to be back next morning for xrays and bloods . All this came to 430 pounds and insurance will not pay out as they say its not emergency as animal was sent home regardless of all treatment taking place with in 12 hours. Can they do this please advise

I'm no expert on this but there is two aspects to this policy from what I've read. £1500 for necessary treatment for accidental injury and £500 for emergency treatment for an illness.
I would've thought that a dislocated hip was an accidental injury rather than an illness.
Have a look at the definitions of these in the policy.
Is this the correct policy - http://www.churchill.com/pdf/CHP14_1211_WEB_PDF.pdf0 -
makes you mad you have to be a lawyer nowadays to not get caught out by the insurers with their wonderful jargon. they certainly know how to make money.0
